Today we were attendants at Sustainable Food Conference held at UVM. We heard from some truly inspirational speakers on topics including fermentation, food justice and security, grassroots change and urban food projects. We also had our farm stand set up outside in a new location and had TONS of amazing produce. One customer who was traveling far from home said she couldn't take any veggies because they wouldn't keep, but gave us a donation. It's great to feel all the local support in our farm.

Here's a few pics from a lesson in hilling potatoes with the Allis Chalmers.

This week we learned how to make aerobic or "hot" compost. Lots of hay and manure (and rye grass) make for good compost. And some people found some creative ways for compacting their layers...

First FTP 2013 CSA delivery went out today! Despite the rain, members received scallions, radishes, spinach, and lettuce heads. Small box for week one, but they'll grow over the next few weeks.
